BVC Technology — Why It Works So Well

BVC stands for Bottom Vertical Coil — and the vertical orientation of the heating element is central to what makes this design such a consistently reliable and long-lasting choice for MTL vaping. Rather than sitting horizontally across the base of the coil head, the BVC element is positioned vertically — directly in the path of the e-liquid flowing in from the open wicking ports around the base. This means the coil is consistently and evenly surrounded by e-liquid at all times, delivering more even heating, cleaner flavour, and a smooth, reliable draw from the very first puff right through to the very last without the hot spots and uneven saturation that can cause dry hits in lesser coil designs.

Three Resistance Options — Choosing the Right Nautilus Coil

1.8Ω BVC Coil — 10W–14W
The tightest, coolest, and most cigarette-like draw in the Nautilus BVC range — and by far the most popular option, particularly among vapers making the switch from cigarettes. Minimal vapour production, a clean and precise flavour profile, and a satisfying throat hit at 20mg nic salt strength make the 1.8Ω the natural starting point for anyone new to the Nautilus platform. The cool, restricted draw makes it equally comfortable for extended all-day vaping sessions without ever becoming fatiguing. Most vapers running the 1.8Ω find their sweet spot at around 10–12W — no complicated setup or wattage experimentation required. Best with 20mg and 10mg nicotine salts and 50/50 freebase e-liquids.

1.6Ω BVC Coil — 7W–11W
A fraction warmer and slightly more open than the 1.8Ω — still firmly in tight MTL territory but with just a touch more warmth and flavour presence on every draw that many vapers find more rewarding for all-day use. The 1.6Ω is the coil most commonly pre-fitted in the Aspire K2 kit when purchased new and performs consistently well across most standard fixed-output batteries without requiring any wattage adjustment. A popular choice for vapers who've been running the 1.8Ω for a while and want to take a modest step towards a slightly warmer experience without losing the character that makes MTL vaping so satisfying. Best with 20mg and 10mg nicotine salts and 50/50 freebase e-liquids.

0.7Ω BVC Coil — 18W–23W
The point at which the Nautilus BVC range crosses into sub-ohm territory — and a genuinely significant step up in warmth, flavour intensity, and vapour production compared to the two higher-resistance options above. The 0.7Ω delivers a warm, open draw that sits right on the boundary between a tight restricted direct-to-lung experience and a warm RDL vape — producing noticeably more vapour and a fuller, bolder flavour profile that vapers coming from Pod kits or seeking more from their Nautilus setup will immediately appreciate. Please note: the 0.7Ω is a sub-ohm coil and should only be used with a device that is capable of safely firing sub-ohm resistances — check your device's specification before fitting this coil. The 0.7Ω is also not compatible with the original Aspire Nautilus or Nautilus Mini due to their more restrictive airflow design. Best with 50/50 freebase e-liquids at 3mg–6mg strength — not recommended with 20mg nicotine salts due to the increased vapour production at higher wattages.

• These are Nautilus BVC coils — not the same as the standard Aspire BVC coils for the CE5, K1, K2, and Spryte range. Please check your device carefully before ordering.

How to Install and Prime Your Nautilus BVC Coil

Nautilus BVC coils are threaded and screw directly into the tank base. Unscrew the base of your compatible Nautilus tank anticlockwise, remove the old coil by turning it anticlockwise, and screw in the fresh coil clockwise until it seats firmly—without over-tightening.

Before vaping, prime the fresh coil by applying three to five drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed organic cotton wicking ports around the coil body, then let it soak for two to three minutes before your first draw. Never vape immediately on a fresh, unprimed coil — this priming step is the single most important thing you can do to extend coil life and prevent the unpleasant burnt taste that comes with a dry cotton wick.

Once primed, start at the lower end of the recommended wattage range and work upwards gradually over your first few puffs — this beds the coil in gently and gives the cotton time to fully saturate, extending coil lifespan and delivering the best possible flavour throughout.

When to Change Your Nautilus BVC Coil

Aspire Nautilus BVC coils are widely respected for their longevity — many regular Nautilus users report two to three weeks or more from a single coil with moderate daily vaping and the right e-liquid. The clearest sign a coil needs replacing is a change in flavour — a flat, muted, or slightly burnt taste is the most reliable indicator that the cotton is spent. Gurgling sounds during a draw or reduced vapour production are secondary signs. When any of these appear, swap in a fresh coil from your pack of five, and you're immediately back to clean, accurate flavour. Keeping the tank topped up at all times and never vaping on a near-empty tank will significantly extend coil life and help you get the most from every pack.

E-Liquid Compatibility

1.8Ω and 1.6Ω coils — 50/50 VG/PG e-liquids and nicotine salt e-liquids at 10mg or 20mg strength. All 10ml nicotine salt e-liquids at QSS Vape work perfectly with both coils — including the full Elux Salt, Crystal Salt, Just Juice Bar, Pixl, OXVA OX Passion, and Riot X nic salt ranges.

0.7Ω coil — 50/50 VG/PG freebase e-liquids at 3mg–6mg strength. High-strength nicotine salts at 20mg are not recommended with the 0.7Ω — the increased vapour production at 18–23W makes high nicotine concentrations uncomfortably harsh.

High-VG e-liquids of 70VG or above are not recommended with any of the three Nautilus BVC coil options — the organic cotton wicking is optimised for the thinner consistency of 50/50 and nic salt formulas and will not wick high-VG shortfills efficiently at these resistance levels.

The majority of deliveries require a signature to confirm receipt. If a signature cannot be obtained, the carrier may ask a neighbour to sign for the delivery. Deliveries that require a signature will not be left if a signature cannot be obtained.

If the carrier leaves the delivery with a neighbour or at your local post office, they will leave a card for you telling you where it is. You may, when placing your order online, specify a different delivery address than your payment address if this is more convenient for you.
